What's in a name?

Of the highest grade, degree, or quality...

That is what is meant by first water.  It is used in reference to gems or diamonds, but I like the idea of using in in reference to thoughts and words strung together like pearls.

Words have the power to crush a monstrous beast, enhance magnificent beauty, or empower the most fragile victim.  I relish learning the meanings and usage of words, I enjoy discovering depth through just a few letters formed together to bring complete meaning to a concept.

I have been writing for decades now, that is so strange to realize.  I have been asked to clarify the meaning of words or phrases often, I have defined content when those around me were at a loss.  I cherish books and messages I see in everyday life.  To state that I have an obsession with learning is a true understatement.  It hasn't always been this way, at least as far as I can remember.  I am so grateful for my late bloom and my thirst for knowledge and expression.

I struggled to develop a name that would reflect a business where I choose words to help others and get paid for doing so. After much deliberation though, this is what I see, 'First Water Words'.

Of the First Water was an idiom referring to the grading system of diamonds for their color or luster, they were compared to the shininess of water.  This term generally is no longer in use in a literal sense, but it has been used figuratively since the early 1800's.  When something was being noticed as exceptional, incomparable, or flawless this was spoken o as "of the first water".

My hope is to bring together words for purposes too many to list, but have those words make such an impact on the reader that they would express their crafting quality to be of the first water.

Join me as I allow some of these thoughts of mine to come together and surprise you as you let them creep into your daily life.
